Our week in pictures

Our weeks are chock full of busy. I am first a mommy so there's plenty of chasing down my son, cleaning up cheerios off the floor, and hugs. This week we went on a few adventures and took advantage of the nice weather we've had (in the low 60's! So ready for Spring already!) and walked around Downtown Fredericksburg and poked our noses around some antique shops.

1. Max, eating Cheerios and other cereal puffs on a beautiful day. Everywhere we go he gets tons of compliments on his hat! Old men just adore his hat, perhaps because many of them wear one just like it? Heh. Everyone is amazed by his ability to keep the hat on and not nibble on it. Same goes for the sunglasses.
2. We love listening to records. We don't have cable anymore (a willing choice!) so we listen to lots of old records during the day. My current favorites are Donovan, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, The Slackers, Santana, and Bing Crosby. This will probably change tomorrow.
3. An old tile bit out front of a now antique store in Downtown Fredericksburg. I just love the text.
4. A hand-stitched quilt in one of the antique stores, I really love the colors and the embroidery done on the front.
5. Bowties! Yes, despite making my own I'm still always on the prowl for new ties. Here's a collection of clip on ones. I'm so in love with that velvet one that I've already decided to include a silk velvet fabric within our fall/winter pattern collection.
6. My bowtie and lady tie haul from the antique stores. Silks and satins.

The red and ivory dotted is a silk self tie and feels glorious. The other two are some kind of silk or maybe a silk blend. The two lady ties are definitely a polyester or poly blend of some kind. I am IN LOVE with the brown slim bowtie with the hot pink arrows and ivory stars. I think I made an audible squeal when I saw it.

What delighted me the most about these vintage bowties is they have embroidered measurements within the inside collar. What a great idea!

Open for Business

Welcome to The Dapper Moth Tie Company! We make ties and collars for your whole family, for everyday and special days. Our every day lifestyle and fashion is influenced by eras past so our collections reflect our vintage lifestyle. We like taking classic items and making them modern, taking unexpected colors and patterns and turning them into quality pieces you'll wear over and over.

All of our products are handmade right here in our studio in Stafford, Virginia. We like creating a product from scratch; from drafting the pattern to creating prototypes and employing testers (willing friends and family!) to finally revealing the finished product. We do all our own branding and design and we take all our own photos. We are as homegrown as they come, just us, hard work, and our sewing machine. We are proud of the products we create and want you to be too!

All our collections and styles are specially chosen by our team to reflect our point of view; taking classic shapes and breathing new life into them by way of color, shape, texture, pattern, and style.

If you see a style of tie or collar you're fond of but not a color or pattern in our collection you like we'd be happy to take a custom order! Contact us via convo or email us at thedappermothtieco [!at] gmail.com.

This blog is where we'll share new products, studio shots, ideas and prototypes, and the everyday happenings here at DMTCo.

Today we opened! How exciting!

Please pardon the dust while I work on the blog design!

I have many other styles in the works including a slim men's necktie, a woman's tie, a pet bowtie, a baby collar, and many many other things. Go check out the products!
